The Hells Angels were founded in Fontana in the year 1948. In the mid-1900s, Fontana was known for a drag racing strip. The raceway is now defunct, but NASCAR opened a new drag strip in honor of the raceway in 2006.

In April of 2008, the city of Fontana opened the Lewis Library and Technological Center. The center cost over $60,000,000. It is equipped with an auditorium that seats 330, a homework center, a special children��s library, a literary center with tutors on staff, 203 computers, a coffee bar, and a bookstore.

Down the street from the new library is the now remodeled Center Stage. Center stage has been used for many events, but is now a dinner theater. Fontana also has the Art Depot. One of Fontana��s original community centers, it was built in 1915. Today it offers art classes, open studio sessions, and special events.

Fontana has used for the movies the Terminator and Transformers. Also, the fictional cartoon character Speed Racer was from Fontana.
