In 2007, Winslow, Arizona had an estimated population of 10,135 residents. It is located in Navaho County. It was founded in 1882 and incorporated in 1900. The town was named for Edward Winslow, a railroad company president. Winslow is approximately 184 miles from Phoenix and 274 miles away from Tucson.

In Winslow, residents can enjoy five parks, a bowling alley, many basketball and racquetball courts, and indoor and outdoor pool, a nine-hole golf course, and a library. They also have football and baseball fields along with rodeo grounds.

One of the sites to see around Winslow is the Meteor Crater. Some people know it as the Barringer Crater. The crater was said to have been formed 50,000 years ago. At that time, humans did not inhabit the earth. The meteor was 50 meters across and scientists have suggested that the speed at which the meteor hit was 45,000 miles per hour. The meteor is said to have produced an explosion equivalent to 150 times the yield of the atomic bombs used on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
The Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest are less than 20 miles from Winslow. Winslow is also home to the 9-11 Remembrance Gardens made with two beams recovered from the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

The town of Winslow was also mentioned in The Eagles song called Take It Easy. The song makes reference to a popular mural called "Standin' On the Corner Park." The song also prompted the town to post a billboard that says, "Winslow, Arizona says "Take It Easy."
