At that time one acre of land in Somerton could be purchased for only $1.25.
There is no question that Somerton's economy heavily relies on its agriculture. Many residents have steady jobs growing and processing vegetables. Despite the long history of agriculture many current government officials in the city are working to build a small commercial sector, welcoming more industrial organizations to the area.
