Sahuarita Arizona Payday Loans
Sahuarita, Arizona is home to an estimated 16,153 residents and is located in Pima County. It is located about 15 miles south of Tucson.
While it was not incorporated until 1994, the town has had residents for a long time.
The first known habitants were the Hohokam people in the years 200 to 1450. Other residents followed. Some were probably related to the Hohokam. In 1854, Sahuarita became a territory of Arizona in the United States of America. Many struggles over the land forced the Native Americans out of Sahuarita and onto a reservation.
The Continental Farm is a major part of history for the town of Sahuarita. Founded in 1915, the farm was built with the hope of growing guayule. Guayule is a plant that provides rubber and the men that built the farm, Bernard Baruch, Joseph Kennedy, and J.P Morgan, were worried about a German blockade of rubber. However, the project was cancelled in 1922 and the Queen of Netherlands purchased the farm and rented it to cotton farmers. In 1948, the land was purchased for the Farmers Investment Company. Today the land is the largest pecan orchard in the world.
For recreation, residents and visitors can travel a short distance from Douglas. They can enjoy the Pena Blanca Lake, Arivaca Lake, Madera Canyon, the Kitt Peak Observatory, Tohono O'Odham Indian Reservation, and the Titan II Missile Museum. The museum holds the most powerful nuclear weapon in the United States and is the only one in the world available for the public to see.
