Marana Arizona Payday Loans
Marana, Arizona is a town northwest of Tucson. It is home to an estimated 33,000 residents and is expected to grow. The Hohokam people inhabited the area almost 4,200 years ago. It is said that they developed an extensive canal system and used the water from the Santa Cruz River to water crops.
The first European arrived in 1694. In 1881, the Southern Pacific Railroad gave the town a place on the map. During World War II, Marana was the largest pilot training center in the world. Some 10,000 flyers were trained in this area. Later five Titan missile sites were built in the area as part of ballistic missile installations.
The town was not incorporated until 1977. Today Marana is a growing city. On its official website their community goal states: "Our purpose is to provide our citizens with high-quality and valuable municipal services that will enhance and benefit their lives. We will strive to do this by being responsive and responsible in working with public and private entities. Our goal is to ensure that Marana remains a safe, stable and attractive community."
In 2007, they hosted a PGA tour tournament. The tournament is said to be staying until 2010.
Marana's Heritage Park was nominated in August of 2008 for the Award for Municipal Excellence. It is among 19 finalists with fewer then 50,000 residents. Winners will be announced in mid-November. Heritage Park is also the host site for the first Marana Fall Heritage Festival. It will be held on October 25, 2008.
