Florence, Arizona is one of the oldest towns in the state. The town of Florence was founded in 1866 by Colonel Levi Ruggles and incorporated in 1900. It is the county seat of Pinal County and is located about 45 minutes away from Phoenix and Tucson.

Also in the Sonoran Desert are the Casa Grande Ruins, Lost Dutchman State Park, Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park, and the Superstition Mountain Wildness Area.
Every year Florence hosts the Junior Parade, which is the world's oldest children's rodeo. They also host the Country Thunder U.S.A., a country music festival.
Mayor Vicki Kilvinger leads the city along with Vice Mayor Thomas Smith and Council Members Barbara Brown, Tom Celaya, Arnold Raasch, Bill Hawkins, and Vallerie Woolridge. Several boards serve under the Town Council including the Historic Advisory Commission, the Library Advisory Commission, the Planning and Zoning Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and the Redevelopment Commission.
