U.S. banks to make $38 billion from overdraft fees

Banks in the United States are poised to make $38.5 billion in customer overdraft fees this year during the worst economic climate since the great depression, the Financial Times said, citing research by Moebs Services. A large portion of the revenue is likely to come from the most financially stretched consumers, according to the paper.

Economic Outlook for 2009

The current economic outlook for 2009 has many experts scratching their heads.  Most see stagnant or sinking stocks and profitability of most major corporations, their are segments that will continue to do well.

The housing and retail industries will continue to be flat or down, while the service business segment will stay even or increase as many will need to work longer or start hobby businesses to make ends meet.
